Extremely sportive, exceptionally rare – offered here is No. 1 of only 9 examples built worldwide.

The Plus 8 GTR special edition is based on the original Plus 8 aluminium chassis. For this project, Morgan reacquired nine unused original aluminium chassis that had remained from a cancelled external program. These chassis became the foundation of this highly exclusive limited-production model. Production of the Plus 8 GTR commenced in the summer of 2021. The model was officially unveiled in early December 2021, with the first customer delivery taking place shortly thereafter. The remaining eight vehicles were delivered to their owners around the world during the first quarter of 2022.

The objective was clear: the Morgan Plus 8 GTR had to be raw, loud, and uncompromisingly low-slung. To achieve this, Morgan’s designers extensively reworked the classic Plus 8 concept. The front end features a redesigned spoiler, an additional splitter, and auxiliary round  LED driving lights. The wheel arches were reshaped and visually inspired by the design of the Aero GT. The rear section also received a number of distinctive modifications. Furthermore, the Plus 8 GTR is equipped with a hardtop incorporating an integrated ventilation duct. Inside, driver and passenger are welcomed by supportive sports seats and a bespoke instrument panel adorned with numerous GTR-specific details. The design team drew inspiration from the legendary Plus 8 race car that competed in the GT series during the late 1990s and became known as “Big Blue.”

The vehicle offered here forms part of an extensive Morgan collection comprising all significant special editions produced in recent years. However, the owner’s passion extends beyond British sports cars and includes a particular appreciation for automobiles from the Italian town of Maranello. It was there that he found the inspiration for the specification of this Plus 8 GTR, working closely with Morgan’s design department to create a configuration that successfully combines classic elegance with sporting character.

The hardtop, finished in Rosso Barchetta, contrasts beautifully with the Grigio Scuro bodywork, while a Maroon coachline separates the body and wings, adding a subtle yet distinctive touch. Matte black alloy wheels complete the car’s cohesive and purposeful appearance. Particularly noteworthy are the numerous bespoke details found throughout the vehicle, including the matte-black ceramic-coated exhaust tips, the Rosso Barchetta-painted number “1” integrated into the grille, and the matching painted number “1” on the door panels.

Beyond the chassis number ending in …0001, this car is also officially designated No. 1 of only 9 Plus 8 GTRs ever built – making it an especially unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
